Skálar - Top Hike

A scenic hiking trail along the east coast of Langanes peninsula. The trail rises and falls continuously over 15 km of rugged nature, from rolling grasslands to stoney hills. Past remnants of farms, sunbathing seals,a graveyard and bird cliffs, with a change of spotting whales. Ending at the abandoned village of Skálar. The views over Bakkaflói fjord are stunning. You’re not likely to see any other people on this route, which adds to the wild character of this remote peninsula.

Ytra Lón Farm Lodge offers pick-ups and drop-offs with a stopover at the bird-cliffs of Skoruvík, spotting Puffins, Northern Gannets, Guillemots and other seabirds.
